Cost of college was unchanged for all students at Wilkes Community College

In-state tuition and fees were unchanged for 2018-19 at Wilkes Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

North Carolina residents paid $2,572 to attend the two-year public institution in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.

Non-resident students would have paid 238.9 percent more than residents this year, or $8,716. Non-resident tuition and fees were unchanged from $8,716 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are North Carolina residents.

Data shows 74 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 284 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.8 million and 38 students took out student loans totaling more than $91,785.

Including all undergraduates (2,601), 1,330 students used grants or scholarships totaling $7.1 million, and 181 students took out $697,826 in federal student loans.
