Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg appeared on Newsmax's "Wake Up America" to discuss Education Secretary Linda McMahon's confirmation, the Trump administration’s education priorities, and the protection of Jewish students from antisemitism on college campuses.

Regarding Secretary McMahon’s confirmation, Walberg expressed optimism about the future. He stated, “I think we’re going to be on a roll now, and it’s going to be challenging work, but it’s work I believe that it’s most important work to be done for this country: making sure there’s a solid education experience to develop a workforce that can meet the needs of the developing world.”

Walberg also addressed the Trump administration's investigation into universities failing to protect Jewish students. He commented on previous efforts by Representative Foxx in identifying issues within universities. “What was done in the House Education and Workforce Committee last year under the previous Chairman, Representative Foxx, was solid, and I think it pointed to the cancer that’s within our universities that’s indoctrinating our students against Judaism – but also against America," he said. "That has to stop, and strong action must be taken."

On holding schools accountable for permitting antisemitism on campus, Walberg noted President Trump's stance: “[Trump is saying] ‘if you want to allow this to carry on, then you’re going to lose your federal funding’. I think that should wake them up.” He further emphasized the importance of returning American education to its former standards with reference to former Secretary Betsy DeVos: “I have a hat in my office that former Secretary Betsy DeVos gave me that says: Make Education Great [Again]. We have to do that or this country doesn’t survive.”
