Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg has issued a statement in anticipation of President Trump's Joint Address to Congress. In his remarks, Walberg highlighted the administration's focus on addressing issues in education and workforce development.
Walberg expressed optimism about President Trump's plans, stating, “Tonight, President Trump will outline his bold vision for America. The Trump administration is working hard to address America’s education crisis, reinvigorate the American workforce, and strengthen the U.S. economy." He contrasted this with what he described as the previous administration's tendency to "bow to union leaders" and impose unnecessary regulations on families.
The chairman praised efforts made by the current administration, saying it has "already made enormous strides to protect women and girls in sports, celebrate school choice, and protect American workers." He also mentioned ongoing work to tackle antisemitism within higher education institutions where Jewish students face discrimination.
Walberg concluded by reaffirming his commitment to supporting President Trump's initiatives: “Under President Trump, common sense is returning to America, and House Republicans are committed to enacting his bold vision for the country. As Chairman of the Committee on Education and Workforce, I will work in lockstep with this administration to protect students, workers, and job creators to ensure every American has a chance to thrive.”
