Today, Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg spoke on the House Floor in support of the Trump-endorsed House budget resolution.

In his remarks, Chairman Walberg stated, "In November, the American people delivered a clear and resolute mandate to this Congress: rein in out-of-control government spending." He criticized past spending practices, saying that bureaucrats in Washington had spent tax dollars recklessly, contributing to a national debt that he described as nearly catastrophic.

Chairman Walberg highlighted what he sees as problematic actions by the Biden-Harris administration, particularly concerning student loan bailouts. He argued that these efforts could cost up to $1 trillion and called them "illegal and irresponsible." He further expressed concern over the federal student loan program's costs and questioned why taxpayer money should continue supporting a system he views as ineffective.

Walberg emphasized that with Republicans controlling both houses of Congress and the White House under President Trump, there is an opportunity to address what he termed wasteful spending. "Reconciliation provides us with a chance to address Washington’s spending problem," he said. He concluded by stating that cutting spending could fulfill their mandate from voters and return more money to Americans.
