Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) expressed her support for Linda McMahon's nomination as Secretary of Education in the Trump administration. McMahon, a former Small Business Administrator, has been chosen for this role.
Foxx emphasized the qualities she believes are essential for the position: "Above all else, the Secretary of Education should be principled. She should be committed to the wellbeing and success of students, and clear-eyed about what is needed to empower them."
According to Foxx, McMahon embodies these characteristics: "Linda McMahon fits that bill to a T. She’s a fighter who will work tirelessly in service of the students – not the so-called elite institutions, or the teachers unions or the federal bureaucracy."
Foxx also noted her personal connection with McMahon: "I am thrilled to congratulate my fellow North Carolinian and my friend on her nomination and look forward to seeing all that she accomplishes."
