Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx expressed criticism towards the U.S. Department of Education following the release of its audit results. The department, led by Secretary Miguel Cardona, has faced scrutiny after failing three consecutive audits.

In her statement, Foxx remarked, “Just in case we needed more proof that Secretary Cardona has failed students, now we have the numbers." She highlighted that despite promises to improve and address past failures, the department has not succeeded in meeting expectations. "After two consecutive failed audits, it could only go up for Cardona, and yet he’s found a way to dig the hole even deeper," she added.

Foxx also criticized the department's focus during the Biden-Harris administration. "Instead of focusing energy and time on improving operations and student outcomes at every level, the Education Department in the Biden-Harris era has poured its resources into student loan schemes and fulfilling every whim of the teachers unions," she stated.

Looking forward to future changes in leadership, Foxx expressed optimism about a new administration's ability to rectify these issues. "Thankfully, the Trump administration will arrive soon and be able to clean up the messes created by the Biden-Harris administration. January 20th can’t come soon enough,” she concluded.
