WASHINGTON – Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) criticized the Biden administration's handling of student loans, calling them "tone deaf." Foxx expressed her frustration with the administration's approach to student financial aid, stating, "The administration is tone deaf. There’s no other way to put it."
Foxx highlighted the delays and errors in the implementation of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), noting that both Republicans and Democrats were dissatisfied with the rollout. She emphasized that the administration's focus on a student loan scheme has diverted attention from crucial tasks, putting the academic futures of millions of students at risk.
"After three years, the new FAFSA should have been ready for students last October, not still filled with errors in April," Foxx remarked, pointing out that 40 percent of students are now facing uncertainties due to the administration's mishandling of the process.
Foxx concluded her statement by urging President Biden to prioritize essential responsibilities over what she referred to as "student loan shenanigans." She firmly stated, "Enough is enough, Mr. President."
