NEW YORK, NY — Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) expressed strong criticism towards Columbia University's management of antisemitic incidents during a meeting hosted by Jewish students at the university. In her remarks, Chairwoman Foxx highlighted the failures in the administration's response to the antisemitic attacks on campus.

Foxx stated, “Columbia University is in a freefall." She continued, pointing out that the Education and the Workforce Committee had initiated an investigation following the surge in antisemitism. The Committee uncovered significant shortcomings in the administration's handling of the situation, including false testimony provided by President Shafik regarding the removal of Professor Joseph Massad.

Furthermore, Foxx mentioned that the administration had suspended two Jewish students for a fabricated 'chemical attack.' She directed a message to President Shafik, stating, "the inmates are running the asylum. Take back control of this once-great institution." Foxx emphasized the need for immediate action, warning that if the administration fails to act, the Committee will explore all avenues to ensure a safe learning environment for Jewish students.

The concerns raised by Chairwoman Foxx shed light on the challenges faced by Columbia University in addressing antisemitism on its campus, prompting calls for decisive action to address the issues at hand.
