There were 1,619 students enrolled in Avery County schools in the 2022-23 school year, 17.1% less than the previous year, according to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Avery County High School registered the highest enrollment among Avery County's eight schools in the 2022-23 school year, welcoming 599 students.
