Ashe County Public Library issued the following announcement on Dec. 3.
"We have a single, centrally-located library that serves our population of 27,000 spread liberally across over 400 square miles of our rural mountain county. Our StoryWalks® in the parks allow us to have a presence in areas where our staff are not able to go.
We currently have two permanent StoryWalks® and, thanks to an LSTA Bright Ideas grant, are expanding to provide temporary StoryWalkw® in other communities. Our first temporary StoryWalk®, in Lansing, North Carolina's picturesque Creeper Trail Park."
"For our first temporary StoryWalk®, Creepy Carrots! by Aaron Reynolds, we partnered with a local business adjacent to the park, Old Orchard Creek General Store, to hand out carrot-themed treats for Halloween."
The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
