County of Avery issued the following announcement on Oct. 28.
Avery County announces COVID-19 Moderna boosters are available for Avery County residents if:
- Your second/final vaccine dose was more than 6 months ago, and
- You are 65 or older, or
- You live or work in a nursing home or long-term care residential facility, or
- You have a medical condition that puts you at high risk for severe illness (for example, obesity, asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes), or
- You work in a high-risk profession or
- You live or work in a place where many people live together.

Appointments may be made 9 am to 4 pm daily by calling the Avery County COVID line (828) 733-8273. Please bring your insurance and vaccine cards if available. Wear appropriate clothing for easy access to the upper arm. Masks are recommended.
