In a recent statement, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx expressed her criticism of the U.S. Department of Education's handling of student loan debt. Foxx, representing North Carolina, addressed what she describes as a breach of promise to students by the Biden administration.
"Liars always get caught in the end, and today’s the end for the Biden administration and its illegal student loan schemes," said Foxx. She accused Secretary Cardona, Vice President Harris, and President Biden of misleading American citizens about student loans. According to her, their actions have resulted in "a broken student loan program and false hope for millions of borrowers."
Foxx suggested that changes are forthcoming with the upcoming shift in presidential administration. "Thankfully, on January 20th, Americans will be able to trust the information that’s coming from the White House again," she stated.
The background provided in her statement claims that policies under the Biden-Harris administration aimed to transfer student loan debt responsibility from borrowers to taxpayers. This was allegedly part of an effort to influence public voting behavior. These measures were reportedly introduced alongside an income-driven repayment (IDR) plan by the administration.
