ASHE COUNTY: Local Business Updates in Response to COVID-19

Ashe County issued the following announcement on April 21.

The following list is for Chamber Members’ changed hours and/or services due to the COVID-19 precautions and NC Governor’s Executive Order for restaurants. The businesses listed are those who’ve reported changes. All business contact information may be found on the Chamber website’s Business Directory in their respective categories. 

Public Services: 

Ashe County Chamber: Staff is working remotely. Leave message, and it will be returned. 336-846-9550 Ashe County Park: Portions of Ashe County Park will be closed to the public effective 3/26/2020. The following areas will be closed for the foreseeable future: Playgrounds,-Basketball Courts, Tennis Courts, Skate Park,Shelters, Bathrooms Ashe County Public Library: closed 3/18-3/30. Wi-Fi available in parking lot 24/7. For more information call 336-846- 2041 or check website: www.arlibrary.org Ashe Outreach Ministries: Mobile meals to homebound. Distribution of food from Pantry will be Tues, Wed, Thurs: 9am-2pm Community meal at 11:00 pick up at door. Backpack distribution will be through school system. Ashe Services for Aging: 

Ashe Senior Center will be closed for at least the next two weeks. This includes the exercise room and all scheduled activities. Tax Aide and Medicare counseling appointments will be rescheduled. 

No onsite congregate meals for at least the next two weeks. Participants will be contacted regarding their immediate food needs, and efforts will be made to provide relief as needed. 

Generations Adult Day Care will be closed for at least the next two weeks. Staff should report to work as scheduled on Monday.  Generations Children’s Center will be closed 3/16 – 3/20 so we can continue to gather information needed from the NC Division of Child Development, Emergency Management, and the Local Health Department to make an informed decision on continued operations. 

In-Home Aide services will continue at this time. 

CAP Case Management Services will continue at this time. 

Visitor restrictions at Ashe Assisted Living continue to be in effect. 

Blue Ridge Parkway: Restrooms and campgrounds are closed. Some sections of road closed. Find details on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. 

LifeStore Bank: Mount Jefferson Rd. Drive-Thru 8am-6pm. Jefferson Branch Drive-Thru : Mon-Thurs 8am5pm, Friday 8am-6pm. All ATM’s available, All branches temporarily closed Saturdays. Services you would normally do in-person such as open accounts, transfer funds, make a loan payment or speak with a lender can be done by calling your local office, (336)246-4344 in Ashe County and (828)265-2580 in Boone. 

Edward Jones/Jason Sutherland: Open / not currently holding appointments in our office. We are continuing to serve clients by conducting meetings and conversations over phone and web conference. 336-246-5521. 

Mt. Jefferson State Natural Area: Closed 

Museum of Ashe County History: Closed to public 

NC Cooperative Extension: Offices are still open and working. The Ag Services building is by appointment only. (336) 846-5850 ashe.ces.ncsu.edu 

Online Holy Week Services: Have been cancelled. 

Partnership of Ashe: The Partnership of Ashe offices are closed for the next two weeks. Staff will continue to offer services from home. A Safe Home for Everyone can be reached using its 24 hour Hotline Number (336) 246-5430. The Partnership Office can be reached by calling (336)982-4588. 

Reeves DiVenere Wright: office is currently open for appointments by telephone during our normal business hours SkyLine: Customer Center and Call Center locations will remain in operation but will be closed to the public effective Monday, March 23rd through the end of the month. Drive-through service at the West Jefferson Call Center on Highway 194 in West Jefferson and at the Sparta Customer Center on Grayson Street in Sparta will remain open during this time. Town of Lansing: currently scheduled events and any further events are cancelled thru May 30, 2020, in any of the town park buildings, stage areas or town hall meeting room. This decision was will be re-evaluated at the end of May. Park and greenway trails will remain open. The restrooms are closed. 

Town of West Jefferson Public Restrooms: Closed 

West Jefferson Town Hall: Closed to Public, staff available by phone.
