The Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education is set to hold a hearing titled “Back to Basics: America’s Founding, Civics, and Self-Government in K-12 Curricula.” The session will take place at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington.

Chairman Rep. Aaron Bean (R-FL) expressed concerns about current educational trends. He stated that "school districts across the country have lost the plot," suggesting that instead of focusing on fundamental aspects of history and America's founding principles, educators are introducing concepts like 'slavocracy' and other radical ideologies. Bean emphasized the need for curricula that highlight an accurate depiction of American history and promote a free exchange of ideas.

The hearing will feature several witnesses including Mr. Ian Rowe from the American Enterprise Institute, Dr. Jed Atkins from the University of North Carolina's School of Civic Life and Leadership, Mr. Brian V. Kennedy from the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, and Mr. Michael Weiser from the Jack Miller Center.

The event is open to press coverage and will be available for live streaming on the Committee’s YouTube page.
