Today, Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg commented on a recent court decision regarding Mahmoud Khalil’s attempt to block the committee's request for certain records. The district court judge denied Khalil’s request for a temporary restraining order, allowing the committee to proceed with its investigation.

Walberg asserted, “This is a victory for credible oversight. An injunction would interfere with a congressional investigation and handicap the functioning of the legislative branch of government under Article I of the Constitution.” The committee is looking into incidents of antisemitism on college campuses to propose legislative action to counter these issues.

He further emphasized the committee's commitment, stating, "Our Committee will not sit by idly as a wave of antisemitic threats flood our colleges and universities and interfere with students’ education."

The outcome permits the committee to obtain disciplinary records from Columbia University, which are relevant to their investigation into the rise of antisemitic behaviors and aims to formulate solutions to address these challenges on American college campuses.
