Today, the Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg expressed his approval following a recent announcement by the Department of Education. The department has declared its intention to enforce Title IX regulations established during the Trump administration in 2020.

Chairman Walberg commented on this development, stating: “The previous administration’s desire to cater to special interest groups has left women and girls vulnerable in the classroom. These attempts to re-define womanhood to include biological men have cost women the protections and freedoms that they have worked decades to build." He added, "The guidance issued by the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights corrects this wrong, and our students are now safer because of it.”

The decision marks a significant move in federal education policy regarding gender identity and protection under Title IX.
