On December 4, the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education will convene for a hearing at 10:15 a.m. The session, chaired by Representative Aaron Bean from Florida, is titled “Back to Basics: America’s Founding, Civics, and Self-Government in K-12 Curricula.”

Chairman Bean expressed concerns regarding current educational trends. He stated, “School districts across the country have lost the plot. Instead of focusing on the basics of history and the founding of America, teachers and administrators have taken it upon themselves to indoctrinate the youngest students with terms like ‘slavocracy,’ radical ideology about sexuality, and discriminatory lessons about Israelis as ‘colonial settlers.’” He emphasized the need for curricula that accurately depict American history and promote civics alongside a free exchange of ideas.

The hearing will take place in room 2175 of the Rayburn House Office Building. It is open to media coverage and will be live-streamed on the Committee's YouTube page.
