Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg, Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education Subcommittee Chairman Kevin Kiley, and Higher Education and Workforce Development Subcommittee Chairman Burgess Owens have joined Congressman John Moolenaar in introducing House Resolution 63. This resolution recognizes January 26 to February 1 as National School Choice Week.
Walberg stated, "This week and every week we celebrate empowering families by giving them the opportunity to choose what school will best suit their child’s unique needs." He praised Rep. Moolenaar for the education freedom resolution.
Kiley emphasized the importance of school choice by saying, "School choice empowers families to select the best educational path for their children, fostering innovation and opportunities for success."
Owens expressed concern over failing school districts: "Millions of kids in failing school districts can’t meet basic reading and writing standards... Parents should have the power to make the best decisions for their kids."
Moolenaar highlighted parental involvement in education: "Parents and students deserve to have the chance to pursue the best education available to them... I am grateful for the support of my colleagues as we introduce this resolution."
