The Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx has expressed strong criticism of the Biden-Harris administration's recent student loan initiative. The plan, announced just days before an election, aims to alleviate college costs by transferring the financial burden from borrowers to taxpayers.
Foxx stated, "Surprise, surprise, we’re eleven days out from an election, and the Biden-Harris administration announces another sham plan to shift responsibility for paying for college from those who took out loans to those who didn’t." She further described it as a "blatant attempt to bribe voters" and criticized the administration for missing opportunities for substantial reform in higher education financing.
According to Foxx, this move reflects desperation on the part of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. She remarked that they "ought to be ashamed of themselves."
This statement comes amid ongoing debates about how best to address rising college costs and student debt in the United States.
