WASHINGTON – Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) has voiced strong opposition to the Biden administration's plan to restrict health care options for Americans. In a letter addressed to Department of Labor Acting Secretary Julie Su, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Foxx criticized the final rules that limit affordable health care choices.
Foxx expressed her concerns about the impact of these rules, stating, "Once again, these rules demonstrate the Biden administration’s intent to take away freedoms from the American people, this time by undercutting the health care coverage options available to them. I am concerned that these dangerous rules will limit health insurance choices for American consumers, leave more Americans uninsured and in medical debt, and decrease the strength of the short-term and individual coverage markets."
The Chairwoman urged the administration to reconsider its stance, saying, "I strongly urge you to rescind these harmful rules." Foxx also pointed out a contradiction in President Biden's previous statements about maintaining health coverage, highlighting that the new rules make it harder for individuals to keep their existing plans.
Foxx emphasized the importance of alternative coverage options like short-term health insurance, which provide patients with more flexibility compared to options available through the ACA individual market. She concluded by stating, "I remain opposed to any efforts by this administration to limit affordable coverage options or otherwise force Americans to be without insurance."
Foxx's letter underscores a growing debate over the Biden administration's healthcare policies and the potential impact on Americans' access to diverse health care choices.
