Today, Chairwoman Virginia Foxx of the Education and the Workforce Committee has initiated an investigation into the handling of antisemitism at Rutgers University. In a letter addressed to key figures at the university, Foxx expressed serious concerns about the institution's response to antisemitic incidents on its campuses and the lack of protection provided to Jewish students, faculty, and staff.

Foxx highlighted the gravity of the situation by stating, "The Committee on Education and the Workforce is investigating Rutgers University’s response to antisemitism and its failure to protect Jewish students. I have grave concerns regarding the inadequacy of Rutgers’ response to antisemitism on its campuses." These concerns were echoed by Rutgers student Joe J. Gindi, who lamented the rise of "Jew-hatred" at the university and accused certain members of the administration and faculty of complicity in fostering this atmosphere.

The investigation delves into various incidents at Rutgers, including the involvement of Sahar Aziz, Director of the Rutgers-Newark Center for Security, Race, and Rights, in promoting antisemitism and supporting terrorism. Additionally, the letter highlighted the disciplinary proceedings initiated against Orthodox Jewish law student Yoel Ackerman for challenging antisemitic messages and the disruptive behavior of Rutgers Students for Justice in Palestine.

Foxx's letter to Rutgers University requested a range of information, including reports of antisemitic acts, disciplinary procedures, and policies aimed at maintaining a safe learning environment. The Committee seeks to understand the university's approach to addressing hate crimes, discrimination, and bias, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the rights and well-being of all students.

The investigation shines a spotlight on Rutgers University's handling of antisemitism and calls for transparency and accountability in addressing these concerning issues.
