TOWN OF BOONE: Remember Turn Around, Don't Drown!

Town of Boone issued the following announcement on Sept. 30.

As we prepare for the storm heading our way this weekend we want to keep our citizens safe and informed. Remember to always be prepared for potential flooding during storms such as Hurricane Ian. You can assist by blowing out ditches, cleaning off storm drains, and making sure any loose cardboard or trash is picked up in your area.

If you live in or near flood-prone areas, have a plan in case roads are blocked or power is knocked out in your area. Make sure you and your family have enough bottled water, medicine, and home oxygen for a few days.

Remember DO NOT try to cross flooded roads, as only 12 inches of water can carry a small car and 6 inches of water to knock a person off their feet.

Keep informed with any upcoming weather alerts and avoid all flooded areas during a storm event.
