This Public Hearing is being held for the further purpose of complying with the requirements of North Carolina General Statue 158-7.1 by receiving public comment on the proposed allocation of funds to Wilkes Economic Development Corporation (EDC), pursuant to EDC’s request for the same.
The request submitted by EDC states that it will continue utilizing EDC funds to pursue a programmatic design that encompasses many areas of economic development and will focus heavily on product development to expand the sites and buildings inventory for Wilkes County.
The request states that EDC will continue to promote development and infrastructure improvements in Wilkes County, and where appropriate, will help facilitate due diligence on potential properties.
The request notes that these and other economic development activities will be part of EDC’s programmatic design. It is the intent of the Board to consider granting the request for funds by EDC by making an allocation to EDC for said programmatic design.
