TOWN OF ELKIN: Light up Elkin 2021 Downtown Events

Thanksgiving

Town of Elkin issued the following announcement on Nov. 22. 

 Enjoy the holidays in Downtown Elkin on December 3rd, 2021! Check out this listing of events and mark your calendars for a ho-ho-hoppin' good time! We'll provide a free hay ride to transport you to various locations (provided by HDK Ranch) and a 2nd free shuttle provided by Elkin Vine Line! Downtown merchants will be open late and looking forward to seeing you!

The Foothills Arts Center (321 E Main St) a 1/2 block east of downtown, will also have lots of fun activities and performances starting at 6:30 pm, but food trucks will be available at 5pm. Parking will be available on the west side parking lot, and our Vine Line shuttle can transport you there from the Lifestore Parking lot (on W Main St). The hay ride will also drop you off at the Live Nativity, pony & carriage rides, the arts council, and on E Main St if requested.

The Vine Line can drop you off at the Trim a Tree for Charity lot, too!

Don't miss the Trim a Tree for Charity on display at the Heritage Center, with lots of opportunities for photo ops for your holiday cards including the Candy Cane Lane at Elkin Antiques & Collectibles Mall (across the street).

There is also an opportunity to enter to win prizes on Light up Night, by visiting participating stores, and filling out an entry form. Drawings will be held on December 8th!

Don't miss this wonderful event for all ages! Vendors and library events begin at 4:30 pm, evening festivities end at 9pm. Here's list of specific times for events Friday night!

We'll also have the Lady of the Light walking around with event information if you aren't sure where to go.

4:00 - 6 pm - Mrs Claus @ 206 E Main (November Room)

4:30 - 6 pm - Children events at Library!!

4:30 - 9 pm - Food trucks (Duck Donuts & A-Maize-ing Kettle Korn) on W Main St at the Lifestore Parking Lot.

4:30 - 9pm - The Nightmare Before Christmas at Unity Tabletop Gaming (126 W Main St). If you loved the movie, drop by and meet characters/take photos, and enter to win prizes!

5:00 - 9 pm - Carolers from Joyful Noise - Craft vendors - Santa's Mailbox found on Main St at the Rock Facade Park (115 W Main St)

5:00 - 9:00 Mermaid's Seafood Food Truck will be open at the Foothills Arts Center (outside near guard gate) offering great seafood dishes. Dirty Joe's Coffee truck will be there too.

5:00 - 9 pm - Live Nativity provided by Elkin Valley Baptist Church with free hot chocolate (Market St)

5:00 - 9 pm - Shops open late with special offerings, live music in various shops/restaurants & prize promotions.

Don't forget to enter to win prizes at participating retail shops!

5:15 - 9 pm - HDK Ranch Hay Rides (The line forms at the Lifestore parking lot / line up) Free. Pick up and drop off points are along the route in downtown.

5:30 - 9 pm - HDK Ranch Pony & Carriage Rides (Elkin Farmers Market shelter) $5 . These will be one block north of Main St. on the corner of Market & Bridge St.

5:30 - 7 pm - Meet the Grinch @ 109 W Main (Honeysuckle Home)

6:00 - 9 pm - At 6:30 the Foothills Arts Council live performances begin (Elkin High School Band, Pam Wurdeman's Dancers, Carolers, YV Community School), along with food trucks; tree lighting & Santa visits, plus 30+ artisan vendors!! Our craft gallery, Billy Macs Macarons, and the Foothills Quilters will be the only indoor pop-up vendors. Joe Thrift & Friends will be there to entertain later. Mermaid's Seafood Truck and Dirty Joe's Coffee will be parked on site, too, from 5pm till 9pm.

7:00 pm - Reeves Theater/ Elkin Big Band holiday tunes - Join the Elkin Big Band with Teresa Jasper and special guest Martha Bassett for an evening of jazz and swing music celebrating the holiday season. This performance is free and open to the public, but patrons are welcome to make seat reservations.

All day till 9 pm - Trim a Tree for Charity display - Heritage Center lot . This is sponsored by Explore Elkin and is a great opportunity to contribute to charities by casting a $1 vote (or more) to your favorite tree! This area will be on display during the month of December.

Free van shuttle loop provided by Elkin Vine Line to/from downtown to arts center, live nativity, and by HDK Ranch for the hay ride loop!

Vine Line shuttle can also take you (by request only) to the Trim a Tree for Charity trees at the Heritage Center.
