Village of Sugar Mountain issued the following announcement on Aug. 25.
Dept. of Transportation will be shutting down Hwy 184 completely just below Food Lion daily between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00pm to repair the washout. Detour is either through Valle Crucis or Linville/Newland. Road will be closed at Alpine Ski on the other end. Please note that no vehicles longer than 30ft are allowed on Cross Park Dr. A fine will be issued to those that attempt and block Cross Park Dr. with large vehicles. We ask that everyone please be patient and plan your trip accordingly.
