Alleghany County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 11.
The New River Conservancy is going to conduct a river cleanup event on August 21, 2021, beginning at 10:00 o'clock a.m.
--The initial meeting place will be at the Mouth of Wilson Boat Ramp (93 bridge).
--They will be putting in boats at the Alleghany Access at the New River State Park.
--They will be taking out boats at the Mouth of Wilson Boat Ramp (93 bridge).
Details:
--Bring your own boat, paddle and life jacket
--New River State Park will provide a shuttle to the put-in
--New River Conservancy will provide gloves, bags, pinchers and a raft to haul trash
--Wear closed-toe shoes and old clothes that don't mind getting dirty
--The New River Conservancy is capping the number of boats at 8.
