State Rep. Josh Dobson (R-McDowell) shared his plan about how to reopen North Carolina amid COVID-19 during the North Carolina Commissioner of Labor debate in early October.
Dobson said during the debate that he supports deregulation, economic reopening and right-to-work laws.
“For safety precautions, we’ve [ground] this economy to a halt. We have a lot of unemployment,” Dobson said during the debate, the Carolina Journal reported on Oct. 3. “If we’re going to grind this economy to a halt, we have to take care of those that are unemployed. … We get calls every week, every day from people who can’t get an answer.”
Dobson also approved of the push for regulatory reform by the General Assembly, the Carolina Journal reported.
“For small businesses struggling to make payroll each month and week, you can’t just pile regulation on top of regulation,” Dobson said, the Carolina Journal reported. “There’s an inflection point where that small business person will just crumble.”
