On May 23, at 10:15 a.m., the Committee on Education and the Workforce, under the chairmanship of Virginia Foxx (R-NC), will convene a full committee hearing with the presidents of Northwestern, Rutgers, and UCLA. The hearing is titled “Calling for Accountability: Stopping Antisemitic College Chaos.”
Chairwoman Foxx expressed her strong stance against antisemitism in educational institutions. She said, “The Committee has a clear message for mealy-mouthed, spineless college leaders: Congress will not tolerate your dereliction of your duty to your Jewish students. No stone must go unturned while buildings are being defaced, campus greens are being captured, or graduations are being ruined. College is not a park for playacting juveniles or a battleground for radical activists. Everyone affiliated with these universities will receive a healthy dose of reality: actions have consequences.”
The hearing will take place at 2175 Rayburn House Office Building. The majority witnesses include Mr. Michael Schill, President of Northwestern University; Dr. Gene Block, Chancellor of the University of California, Los Angeles; and Dr. Jonathan Holloway, President of Rutgers University.
Credentialed media planning to cover the hearing need to RSVP to Nick.Barley@mail.house.gov. The hearing will also be live-streamed on the Committee's YouTube page.
