WASHINGTON — Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) has strongly condemned the ongoing chaos caused by unlawful encampments on college campuses, which are disrupting learning and endangering students. Foxx articulated her concerns in a statement released today.
"Illegal actions must have consequences. It’s that simple. Parents teach their toddlers this very basic notion—if you do something wrong there will be repercussions. So it boggles my mind that university leaders are failing to grasp this concept," said Foxx.
Foxx also criticized the leniency shown towards individuals disrupting campus activities, stating, "Kowtowing to these radicals, who harass and threaten Jewish students, denying them the right to a safe learning environment, is wrong."
Highlighting the importance of upholding the rule of law, Foxx emphasized, "We are the greatest nation on the earth, in part, because we believe in the rule of law. So when a school like Barnard gives rule-breaking students amnesty it contributes to the degradation of our civil society."
In a strong condemnation of the current situation, Foxx concluded, "The inmates are truly running the asylum."
The statement from Chairwoman Virginia Foxx underscores the growing concerns over the disruption of academic environments and the need for accountability in addressing unlawful activities on college campuses.
