TOWN OF BEECH MOUNTAIN: 2022 Fire Hydrant Flushing Notice

Hydrant

Town of Beech Mountain issued the following announcement on May 10.

Town of Beech Mountain Fire Hydrant Flushing Notice and Pump Testing

The Town of Beech Mountain Volunteer Fire Department is conducting the annual testing and flushing of fire hydrants. This process provides important flow data, removes minerals and sediment that build up over time and ensures that all fire hydrants are in good working order. Flushing will be occurring for the next several weeks.

Low pressure, discoloration or cloudiness are possible following hydrant flushing in your area. Generally, this will clear up by running cold water for several minutes. Although the water is still considered safe to use during this time, customers should refrain from doing laundry if your water is discolored and avoid running hot water, as mineral sediments can accumulate in your water heater. If your water does not clear within a few hours, please contact the Public Works department at 828-387-9282.

Work will be conducted Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:30pm. We thank you for your patience during this most important testing and flushing fire hydrate process.
