TOWN OF ELKIN: Elkin Spring (Roadside) Clean Up on May 14th!

Cleanupday

Town of  Elkin issued the following announcement on May 4.

Want to help your community in a fun, easy way? We need your help cleaning up the nasty trash along the roadways in our town this Spring!

WHEN: Our community Spring Clean will be on Saturday, May 14th and Sunday, May 15th. The town will have a dump truck set up at the Elkin Center that weekend to drop off your bags of Roadside trash that you have helped clean up in ELKIN. We also have a dumpster at the Town Hall for those cleaning streets in the downtown area to put roadside trash in.

THANK YOU GIFT: Please take a photo of you or your group cleaning up the trash. We want to see all of your hard work and will be in touch with a thank you prize after that weekend!! You can email your photos with a description of where your clean up was to communitymanager@elkinnc.org. We will be sharing them on our FB page, if you'd like to include names.

ROADS: Here are some roads that typically need trash clean up in Elkin:

-Johnson Ridge Road

-Hwy 268 (along the RR tracks from downtown eastward)

-Claremont

-Bridge St

-Entrance to Elkin at the North End (Hwy 21 entrances into North Elkin/N. Bridge St/Poplar Springs Rd, etc)

-On/off ramps at Hwy 21 onto CC Camp/Elkin.

-CC Camp westbound from Hwy 21 entrance, towards Bridge St.

-CC Camp (the Rotary Club will be cleaning the section from I-77 to Hwy 21 exits that day). THANK YOU!

QUESTIONS?: Some streets do have an Adopt-a-Street organization already, so if you aren't sure where you can clean, just give us a call at the Town Hall at 336-258-8908. If you are choosing a road that needs LOTS of help, I am happy to provide trash bags for you!

TIPS: We recommend wearing brightly colored clothing so motorists will see you. Also bring water, a hat, and sunscreen! And be sure if you are bringing smaller children to help, that you have a dedicated adult to watch over them (and pick a less-busy road to clean, like one in your neighborhood). We'll have a thank you gift for the little ones, so no job is too small!
