COUNTY OF YANCEY: East Yancey Sewer System Improvements Project Employment Opportunity

County of Yancey issued the following announcement on Jul. 12. 

The East Yancey Water & Sewer District is carrying out a sewer improvements project funded in part by the Appalachian Regional Commission through a basic agent agreement with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, and the State Revolving Loan Fund. In the implementation of this project the following job types may potentially be available: machine operator, general laborer, pipelayer.

For those interested, please contact the contractor directly since all job openings will be posted through the contractor’s offices. This will enable the contractor to have an applicant pool for any future openings or refer inquiries to workforce development or training programs. To the greatest extent feasible, employment and training referral will be made available to qualified persons who permanently reside in Yancey County.

Section 3 Residents: If you meet one of the following criteria, you may be eligible to receive priority consideration when applying for certain federally-funded jobs and training opportunities:

  1. Public housing residents; or
  2. Low and very low-income persons who live in the County where covered federal funding is spent.
