Graduates earn 850 degrees, certificates from Wilkes Community College

About 26.6 percent of the 850 degrees and certificates handed out by Wilkes Community College in 2017-18 were to students in liberal arts and sciences, general studies and humanities programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Wilkesboro conferred 224 associate's degrees and 2 certificates in liberal arts and sciences, general studies and humanities programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies. Data shows the school gave out 190 associate's degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies, followed by 109 certificates in automobile/automotive mechanics technology/technician and 53 certificates in architectural engineering technology/technician.

The college enrolled 2,601 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
