Foxx has been an active figure in U.S. politics for decades. She began her legislative career in the North Carolina Senate from 1995 to 2005 before joining Congress to succeed Richard Burr as the representative for North Carolina’s 5th district. Born in New York City in 1943 and currently residing in Banner Elk, Foxx holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
