Virginia Foxx, a U.S. Congresswoman representing North Carolina’s 5th district, posted several messages on her social media account on July 18, 2025.

In a post at 13:42 UTC, Foxx wrote, “Happy Friday. Congratulations to everyone.” Later that day at 14:16 UTC, she commented on public reactions to funding decisions for international programming: “When you cut funding for Iraqi Sesame Street, liberals lose their minds. Breathe. It’ll be ok.” In another post at 15:50 UTC, Foxx addressed an apparent grammatical error in an online exchange by stating, “You’re* Don’t forget to add a period next time. Very disappointing attempt. How sad.”

Foxx has represented North Carolina’s 5th District in the U.S. Congress since 2005 and previously served in both the North Carolina House of Representatives and Senate from 1995 to 2005. She was born in New York City in 1943 and currently resides in Banner Elk. Foxx graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968.
