Virginia Foxx, a U.S. Congresswoman representing North Carolina’s 5th district, posted several messages on her Twitter account in mid-July 2025 that drew attention to government spending and fiscal policy.

On July 15, 2025, Foxx shared a brief message with an emoji and a link: ” https://t.co/MvoRgfQWOu”. Three days later, on July 18, she posted: “One Big Beautiful Rescissions Package”. Later the same day, Foxx added: “They just love lighting cash on fire. Someone needed to call them out, so I did https://t.co/cuccOEhtAu”.

Foxx has represented North Carolina’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress since 2005 after succeeding Richard Burr. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in both the North Carolina House of Representatives and the North Carolina Senate from 1995 to 2005. Born in New York City in 1943 and currently residing in Banner Elk, Foxx graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968.
