At 2:24 a.m. UTC, Foxx addressed Speaker Johnson directly, stating, “Thank you, @SpeakerJohnson. We stand with you every step of the way. https://t.co/zrWRl9eTTk”.
Foxx has represented North Carolina’s 5th congressional district since 2005 and has consistently secured re-election in the past decade. In the most recent general election in 2024, she defeated Chuck Hubbard with 59.5% of the vote to Hubbard’s 40.5%. She also won previous elections against Kyle Parrish in 2022 (63.15% to 36.85%), David Brown in 2020 (66.9% to 31.1%), Denise D. Adams in 2018 (57% to 43%), Josh Brannon in both 2016 (58.4% to 41.6%) and 2014 (61% to 39%).
