Town of North Wilkesboro issued the following announcement on Nov. 2.

The Downtown North Wilkesboro Partnership hosts Light Up each year the Friday before Thanksgiving.

This marks it’s 25th and the group is thrilled to be back at it again with new additions like a laser light show, a Winter Wonderland photo-op area, and the return of its window and business decorating contest and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The family-friendly event also features shops open late, food and gift vendors, dance and cheer performances, a marching band, live music, a deejay, mini-train rides and children’s craft activities at Wilkes Art Gallery.

Festivities start on 9th Street near Town Hall at 6:00p with a lighting ceremony lead by North Wilkes High School Marching Band and North Wilkesboro Mayor, Marc Hauser. Streets will close at 5:00pm to allow vendor set up.

Plenty of public parking in nearby lots will be available and festival goers can walk around safely throughout the downtown district. Visit downtownnorthwilkesboro.com for more info
