Town of Boone issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.

The Town of Boone (herein after, “Town”) is requesting proposals from consultants to conduct a comprehensive review and recommend updates to our current water and sewer rate and fee structures, including an update of the system development fee analysis as required by General Statute 162A-209 paragraph (c) with methodology further outlined within NCGS 162A-201 through 162A-215.

This will include evaluating the current rate and fee structures, comparing it to benchmarks in the industry and recommending alternative rate and fee structures.

The overarching goal of the study is to adequately fund water and sewer operations, capital improvements costs, and bond debt while at the same time keeping rates comparable to industry averages/standards.

Only qualified firms with significant experience in utility rate studies and economics shall be considered. For more information, please read the full RFP linked below.
