Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) addressed the House Floor, criticizing the Biden-Harris Education Department for failing its audit for the third consecutive year.
Chairwoman Foxx stated, "Mr. Speaker, the Biden-Harris Education Department has once again failed America’s hardworking taxpayers." She highlighted that "for THREE years in a row the Education Department failed its audit," indicating issues with managing resources effectively and accurately.
Foxx emphasized the importance of "accuracy, transparency, and consistency" in financial management. She accused the department of having student loan data full of errors and making estimates it could not justify to auditors.
"Bungling and bad budgeting appear to be the Education Department’s blueprint," Foxx remarked. She questioned whether this was due to ineptness or deliberate wasteful spending, concluding that "it is an embarrassment" and asserting that "the American people deserve better."
