WASHINGTON – Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) has taken action against Department of Labor (DOL) Acting Secretary Julie Su for failing to comply with the Committee's oversight requests. Foxx expressed her frustration stating, "Under Acting Secretary Su, the DOL has adopted a posture of blatant negligence in complying with the Committee’s oversight requests." She emphasized that the DOL's lack of response to the Committee's inquiries regarding the return-to-work action plan is "entirely unacceptable."

During a recent appearance before the full Committee, Acting Secretary Su was asked to provide a copy of DOL’s return-to-office plan, which she failed to do despite White House instructions. Chairwoman Foxx remarked, "Acting Secretary Su must be held accountable for her own inaction. She has earned this subpoena."

In a cover letter accompanying the subpoena, Chairwoman Foxx highlighted the Committee's efforts to obtain information from the DOL regarding their plans for returning to in-person work. The Department's response on April 18, 2024, was deemed insufficient and failed to address the core request of the Committee. Consequently, the Committee determined that issuing a subpoena was necessary to compel the required information from Acting Secretary Su.
