Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) has announced significant witness changes for the upcoming hearing on May 23, titled “Calling for Accountability: Stopping Antisemitic College Chaos.”

In response to recent events, Chairwoman Foxx stated, “Over the last several days, the presidents of Northwestern and Rutgers have made shocking concessions to the unlawful antisemitic encampments on their campuses. They have surrendered to antisemitic radicals in despicable displays of cowardice.” As a result, the presidents of Northwestern and Rutgers, along with UCLA, will now testify in-person at the upcoming hearing.

The Presidents of Yale and Michigan, who were initially scheduled to testify, will now be required to appear for transcribed interviews. Chairwoman Foxx emphasized that they are not exempt from accountability, stating, “Yale and Michigan are by no means off the hook. Presidents Salovey and Ono will be required to appear before the Committee for transcribed interviews at a later date or risk deposition and subpoena.”

The full committee hearing will take place at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 2175 Rayburn House Office Building. The majority witnesses will include Mr. Michael Schill, President of Northwestern University, Dr. Gene Block, Chancellor of the University of California, Los Angeles, and Dr. Jonathan Holloway, President of Rutgers University.

Credentialed media interested in covering the hearing are required to RSVP to Nick.Barley@mail.house.gov. The hearing will also be live-streamed on the Committee's YouTube page.
