WASHINGTON – Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) conducted oversight of the Department of Labor, delivering a statement at a hearing titled "Examining the Policies and Priorities of the Department of Labor."

Foxx addressed Acting Secretary Su, highlighting the constitutional requirement for Senate confirmation, stating, "Acting Secretary Su, I know Vice President Harris has lobbied hard to drop the appellation 'acting' from your title, but I’m afraid only a vote of the full Senate can grant you that promotion. This is something they have rightly not seen fit to do." She expressed concern over the prolonged period of serving as acting secretary without Senate confirmation, emphasizing the importance of upholding constitutional processes.

Regarding the FY 2025 DOL budget, Foxx criticized the proposed increase in discretionary spending and highlighted concerns about the administration's regulatory actions. She stated, "The budget is a statement of priorities. And overzealous regulatory action has been a blatant priority of the Biden administration." Foxx raised objections to various rules and regulations proposed in the budget, which she believes will negatively impact American workers, job creators, and taxpayers.

Foxx also pointed out the dissatisfaction among the American electorate regarding economic conditions under the Biden administration. Citing poll results, she highlighted concerns about inflation, cost of living, and job availability. Foxx expressed skepticism about the administration's economic policies and their impact on the American workforce.

In conclusion, Foxx outlined the Republican approach to economic policies, emphasizing a focus on curbing spending, promoting growth and innovation, reducing regulatory barriers, and enhancing opportunities for skills development to unleash the American economy.
