The Town of North Wilkesboro announced on Apr. 16 that it is asking its service population to voluntarily conserve water due to recent drought conditions in the region.

This request applies not only to residents of North Wilkesboro but also those served by West Wilkes Water Association, Blue Ridge Water Association, Mulberry Fairplains Water Association, and Broadway Water Association. The move comes as a precautionary measure rather than an emergency response.

According to the announcement, North Wilkesboro is not currently facing circumstances that would require activating its official Water Shortage Response Plan. “We are simply looking to the future for the best interest of North Wilkesboro customers and our neighbors,” town officials said in the press release.

Customers are encouraged to stay informed about any future updates and can view a copy of the North Wilkesboro Water Shortage Response Plan at www.north-wilkesboro.com.

The town’s decision reflects ongoing concerns about regional drought and aims to promote responsible water use among all who rely on local supplies.
