Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 13.

The Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce seeks a qualified candidate to fill the role of Membership Manager and Social Media Engagement. This position is responsible for membership support, recruitment, retention, associated programs, communications and public relations events.   The Membership Manager supports the Director and other staff with development of non-dues revenue programs, events and value added membership programs. This is a professional position that supports the Director and staff with assigned projects and tasks and other duties as assigned. 

The successful candidate will be a high-energy, polished professional with excellent relationship building and customer service skills, and event planning experience. In addition to contributing to the growth of the membership, the Director of Membership will be responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of programs and special events targeted to promote the growth and retention of our members. This position also assists with the recruitment, commitment and retention of sponsors for the events and programs of the Chamber. The Director of Membership must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and possess strong attention to detail.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement and manage membership attraction and retention program 

• Create and manage monthly member programs

• Creatively develop, plan and execute all events (themes, logistics, etc.) 

• Secure sponsors and in-kind donations

• Create and manage event budgets

• Create weekly e-newsletter with updated member, business and Chamber news

• Manage invoicing and A/R protocol related to non-dues operations

• Manage all member invoicing and dues postings 

• Work with teammates to plan, coordinate and design event/program marketing/advertising

• Manage all aspects of member benefits related to membership investment levels

• Oversee all educational workshops and seminars

• Outreach/communication to members

• Coordinate individual/quarterly New Member Orientations

• Represent MCCOC at events, programs and on committees as needed or assigned

• Assist with answering phones and helping walk-in clients

• Create, share and implement social media campaigns to highlight and promote Chamber members and events

• Attend Chamber functions including networking and special events.

• Set-up and attend ribbon cuttings for new, expanding or relocating business members. Oversee press release with picture of corresponding ribbon cutting to local media. Contact Board of Directors, Local Leaders and Executive Director as to the scheduled ribbon cuttings.

• Assists with all Chamber events including the NC Mineral and Gem Festival

• Assists with updating Chamber social media platforms

• Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Exceptional customer service skills, over the phone and in person, with our members and the public

Proficient in G-Suite and Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint). Experience/Knowledge of membership databases and Email software (Mailchimp) a plus. Proficient in social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.

Proven work experience with fundraising/soliciting sponsorships or customer service experience.

Appropriately handles confidential information regarding member records and other business/economic development information.

Exhibits professional and ethical conduct at all times and is courteous with members, walk in guests, board members and the general public.

Ability to work well with a diverse group of volunteers

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Experience with managing logistics for special events

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to be flexible and juggle multiple projects with a positive attitude

Ability to work independently

Must be a team player and able to motivate co-workers and volunteers

Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and insurance

Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.

Must be able to communicate effectively with volunteers, members, and teammates to promote events and programs.

Position requires ability to hear, speak and see; must be able to listen to others as well as observe body language; candidate must be mobile, able to attend meetings on and off-site, be physically able to do all things necessary to set up for events

Flexible schedule to attend early morning and evening meetings and/or events

Professional appearance and attitude

Must have a 4-year degree in business, marketing, tourism, hospitality or equivalent in education and experience. 

Prefer 3+ years of professional work experience; sales experience preferred
