COUNTY OF WILKES: Landfill Public Service Announcement
0Comments

County of Wilkes issued the following announcement on June 13.

Due to high rates of contamination, continuing abuse involving non-recyclable waste being placed outside of unmanned recycling containers, coupled with the rise in fuel cost, GFL has informed the County that the company will no longer be able to service any unmanned recycling sites. The sites include Crossfire Church and certain public schools throughout the County.

All unmanned recycling containers are scheduled to be removed June 30th, 2022.

In an effort to maintain recycling throughout Wilkes County, and continue to serve our residents, all Convenience Centers will open an additional day throughout the week beginning July 1st.

The Mount Pleasant, Mount Carmel and Grassy Fork Convenience Centers will open Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri from 9am-5pm and on Saturdays from 8am-5pm. The Roaring River Landfill and Convenience Center will continue to serve our residents Mon-Saturday from 7am-6pm.
