County of Mitchell issued the following announcement on June 14.

Enjoy the Saturday before 4th of July with an Independence Day celebration that includes games, fun, and live DJ playing patriotic tunes!

Spruce Pine Main Street Independence Day Celebration will begin July 2nd at 7:30pm and end around 10pm.

(The town celebration that day will include a firework show and a parade by Kiwanis Club.)
