County of Avery issued the following announcement on Dec. 20. 

The sites will be closed on Friday, December 24th and Saturday, December 25th . The sites will reopen on Monday, December 27th on a regular schedule. The sites will also be closed on Friday, December 31st, 2021. All sites will reopen on Saturday, January 1st at 8:00am.

Avery County landfill will be closed on Friday, December 24th and Saturday, December 25th, 2021. We will reopen on Monday, December 27th at 8:00am. The landfill will also be closed on Friday, December 31st, 2021. We will reopen on a regular schedule on Saturday, January 1st, 2022 at 9:00am.

We would like to remind citizens that we have Christmas tree recycling collection at our Linville site and the Landfill.

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and New Year Holiday.  Be safe and we will see everyone after the Holidays.
