WASHINGTON – Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) has expressed deep concern over the recent events at Columbia University, where antisemitic protests have caused chaos on campus. Foxx issued a statement in response to the situation, emphasizing the need for immediate action.

Foxx commended President Shafik for inviting the New York Police Department to clear the unauthorized Gaza Solidarity Encampment, which she described as endangering students and disrupting campus life. She criticized the university's failure to address antisemitism effectively, noting the shocking actions of protestors harassing Jewish students and creating a hostile environment.

The Chairwoman highlighted the urgency for Columbia to take decisive measures to combat antisemitism and restore order on campus. Foxx called for strict discipline against those responsible, including suspension, expulsion, and termination, to address the root of the problem.

Foxx emphasized the importance of the Committee's investigation into Columbia, citing concerns about misleading statements and the university's response to antisemitic behavior. She stressed the need for accountability and transparency in addressing the issues at hand.

The events unfolding at Columbia University have prompted calls for immediate action and a turning point in addressing antisemitism and maintaining a safe learning environment for all students.
